More Wishes

Some new colours available ! All at £6  each ( can come plain or with a different , personalised message. )
Wishing everyone a happy shopping experience in the run up to Christmas ... fairies do NOT like the rush and crush out there , preferring to fold their wings in front of the fire ... the smug ones did all their shopping in October but I don't know many of those.

Off to make my first batch of mince pies of the season ...

Open House Fairies

Some of my fairies have been let out to appear in two Brighton Open Houses - they rather like these outings although it's rather sad to see them go as many of them never come back ( they do however go to real fairy lovers and I'm sure they go on to lead very happy lives ! ) I realise I can't keep them all here or I'd be overrun with them and  magic does need to be spread about in these gloomy days.

Below are some of my 'make a wish' cards . They are 3.5 inches high and the figures are on thick handmade Indian paper. They are £6 each. I've enjoyed using a natural , lichen, woodland palette
this season and these Khadi papers made an ideal contribution to the scheme. I'm pleased with the way the little gold wings really stand out against the muted effect.

Just to prove I can't really keep away from colour, Robin has made an appearance  ...

Lastly, just to thank all of you who have taken in fairies recently - I hope they are behaving !

Flat Fairies

The flat fairies are happy to come out of their box and pose for photographs in all their finery ( they sulked for awhile after not getting any cake in the last missive that I posted ) but have come round now, deciding it was better for their figures not to indulge. Their vital statistics are 6 cms x 8cms ( not including their hanger. )

All of the following fairies are £4 each or if you buy 4 you get one free making it £12 add 75p for p&p. These girls like to look pretty on a tree or twig arrangement , be stuffed into a stocking and generally are happy to hang around all year round ( a fairy is for life and not just for Christmas ! )

Their are many types of this species ... here we have a white organza with red gingham bow ...

... white organza with pale blue satin bow ...

White organza with red satin bow ...

gold organza and gold bow ...

palest pink organza with lilac organza bow ... here seen with 4 in a cello bag - don't worry there are air holes - they can breathe !

white organza with green organza bow ... happy choosing !

Fairy Cakes

Had a friend over for tea in the studio today and whilst our backs were turned the fairies descended on to the cake stand . Fairies of course have a very strong sense of smell and anything sugary will attract them from a mile off so do watch out for those tell tale footprints in the icing sugar when you serve afternoon tea ... fine china will add to your chances of attracting them to the tea table and cherries, butterfly cakes and real leaf tea will more or less guarantee a visitation.

I managed to catch Vivian hovering and wondering about which one to land on  ...

I think she may have some raspberry jam on those lips.

Some of the girls like Lavender just like to pose on the fine china ... little does she know she is soon to
be captured in a three inch glass dome , hence she has no shoes on ( they are put on once she is safely inside. )

Dora was found in a likewise manner ... although she has her boots on as she is made to just hang about.

And  Edwina chose the primula plate as the best to show off her colours.

She will also be moving into a dome soon.

Just one cake left and Cassandra stood watch over it as I swept up the cake crumbs on the floor ,
fairies are such messy creatures. )

She looks like butter cream  wouldn't melt in her mouth ( but I know it has ! )

Still some left for Little Scarlet who daintily dipped her raspberry wand in the raspberry jam .

It was all too much for Peggy who fell asleep on the doily ...

Next time ... flat fairies for sale ... stocking fillers at £4 each   !

Fairies Behaving Badly !

The fairies have been very active this Autumn and have been escaping into the garden whilst my back was turned ! I found Camille catching some sun in the apple tree and Geraldine wasn't very far behind.
She was quite well camouflaged on the bark with her quail wings feathers.

The next thing I knew Pauline and Elvera were found sitting and spinning around on the bird feeder, having quite a chat.

They are not put off by the cold conditions either as on this frosty morning when I found Quentin on the frozen thyme.  Luckily his peacock wings stood out and I  enticed him back inside with cake crumbs and Earl Grey tea. ( A very good fairy bait. )

Pauline was waiting patiently on the gold thread to have her  shell hat and buttons put on. A favoured resting place for her I've noticed.

These three sisters ,  Gina, Geraldine and Georgette were trying to sneak away but I shut the studio door just in time ...

Hazel and Harriet were flying around a bit and then had a rest on the fairy log that I keep for them to perch on ...

and were then joined by Pauline ( showing her bloomers I'm ashamed to say ) and Cecily ( she gets
everywhere and knows all the fairy gossip. )

Pauline sat and thought about fairy deportment for awhile after that.

I managed to call order and thought it best to make sure they were safe and sound by trapping a few in some glass domes and boxed frames . Priscilla seemed happy enough in her 3 inch dome.

Petra was a bit sulky but agreed after some persuasion to go in hers.

 Gilly followed next ...

And so they are free from harms way until somebody lets them out. On their slightly distressed painted stand these domes are 3.5 inches high and are  £30 if anyone is willing to house a fidgity fairy.

Quentin is now housed in his rather larger glass dome which on it's off white panted base measures approximately 7 inches high. He has an embroidered tail coat, lace collar and cuffs and is carrying a frosted and dried cone. He is £85 ( please remember he is particularly partial to afternoon tea. ) Good job he came in from the cold as he needed his pom poms put on his shoes and now he's rather proud of them.

All other fairies were duly caught and put in their boxed frames for their own good .
